Seven storeys on California Avenue SW, with shops at the sidewalk, a deck on the roof, and the whole of the Alaska Junction inside a walk of the front door.
A new building on a street that was already finished. Unplugged fills the gap between its neighbours on California, and takes the Junction as it finds it.
It sits mid-block on California Avenue SW at SW Oregon Street, buildings either side of it and the alley behind. SW Alaska Street and the middle of the Junction are two blocks south, which is near enough that the coffee, the groceries and the farmers market are a walk rather than a drive.
Charcoal cladding over a dark brick base, balconies projecting over the street on the residential floors, and shops at grade. Hey Bagel and Jelly Jelly are already in, with a third space to come, so the ground floor belongs to the block rather than to a lobby.
Inside are 88 homes, studios through two bedrooms, with a handful of two-storey lofts on the top floor. Every one of them has its own washer and dryer, and many open onto a balcony of their own. Above them is a common deck on the roof, planted either side, with a lift that reaches it.
